Welcome

If you found this site, you’re probably curious about photography in a way that doesn’t fit the usual gear reviews and rankings. This isn’t a course, and there’s nothing to complete here. It’s more of a working journal — photos, thoughts, and notes on gear, some of it tested over years, some of it still on my list to try.
Here’s what you’ll find as you look around.

From Japan

This is where most of my photos live. Most were taken around Fuji and the Shizuoka area, often with Mount Fuji somewhere in the frame, sometimes not. Every now and then a trip further out — places like Tokyo, Yamanashi, or Nagoya — finds its way in too. New images get added regularly — some from recent walks, others pulled from years of shooting with the D700 that haven’t been shared before. This section changes more than the rest of the site.

Simple Gear

A short list of the equipment I actually carry and use, with some notes on why I chose each piece. Nothing here is presented as the best option on the market — just what’s worked for me, and held up over time.

Journal

Longer pieces — reflections on specific places, seasons, or decisions I’ve made about how I shoot. This is also where most of the gear write-ups live, if you want more detail than what’s on the Simple Gear page.

If You’re Curious About the Story

There’s a longer version of how this site came together — including a father’s photography studio in Brazil and a first camera that arrived in Japan in 1991 — on the About page.
Otherwise, feel free to just start browsing. There’s no order you’re supposed to follow.
