Before You Begin

This exercise is not about improving a photograph.

It is about returning to what you have already seen.

You don’t need to take a new photo yet.
You don’t need to decide if the image is good or bad.

Choose one image you have already made.
Any image will do.

Then pause.

The Exercise

Look at the image slowly.

Notice your first reaction.
Liking.
Disliking.
Judging.
Wanting to move on.

Let those reactions pass.

Return to the image again.

This time, look for what you didn’t notice before.
Small details.
Edges.
Light.
Quiet areas.

If your attention drifts, gently bring it back.

You may return to the image several times.
On the same day, or on different days.

Do not edit it.
Do not compare it to other images.

Just return.

What This Is Really About

This exercise is not about fixing the image.

It is about changing the relationship with it.

It trains patience with what already exists.
Seeing again, without urgency.

Allowing meaning to unfold over time.

When You’re Done

You don’t need to reach a conclusion.

Notice how returning feels different from moving on.

Did the image change?
Or did your way of seeing change?

You can return again later.
Or you can leave the image as it is.

Either is fine.
